about
Welcome to the rich and inspiring history of New Birth Nehemiah and Hannah Church of God Outreach Ministry, a testament to faith, service, and community. Our journey began as a heartfelt outreach program, initiated by Sister Stephanie and Brother Anthony, who were deeply moved to serve the Lord by supporting those in need. Their dedication to the faith was evident as they sent money, clothing, food, and other necessities to Jamaica, reaching out to the less fortunate with compassion and generosity. This noble endeavor laid the foundation for what would become a flourishing ministry under their devoted leadership.
In 2007, after years of committed service and under various leadership roles, both were ordained and installed as Pastors, leading to the founding of the Nehemiah and Hannah Church of God Outreach Ministry. The ministry's humble beginnings were marked by a small yet fervent group of approximately nine members, including Pastor Anthony and Stephanie Lawrence's four children - Katherine, Kaylia, Steven, and Stephon. Our first worship service and meeting, imbued with a spirit of hope and community, were held at the Evangelistic Outreach Ministry in Brooklyn, NY. This marked the start of a journey filled with faith, growth, and an unwavering commitment to serving God and His people.
Our ministry experienced a significant milestone in 2009 when we moved into a storefront property on Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. For two years, this location became a nurturing ground for our congregation, allowing us to grow and strengthen in faith. In 2011, we found our new home at 488 Hendrix Street, Brooklyn, NY. Our path then crossed with Pastor Gary Thomas, through Pastors Elsie and Calvin Abraham, leading us to fellowship with New Birth Pentecostal in Bronx, NY. In 2013, we officially became part of the New Birth Organization, embracing our new name - New Birth Nehemiah and Hannah Church of God Outreach Ministry. We are honored to be a sister church of the New Birth Federation, extending our reach and fellowship across the USA, the Caribbean, and other regions, all under the guidance of our headquarters in the Bronx, led by Bishop Samuel Thomas and Pastor Gary Thomas.
We believe in one eternal, omnipotent, and omniscient God, the Creator of all things, who exists in three persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is a God of love, justice, and holiness, deserving of all worship and obedience. His divine nature, eternal power, and sovereign will are revealed in the Scriptures and through His creation.
We affirm that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human, born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and revealed the Father’s heart through His teachings and actions. His sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection are the cornerstone of our faith, offering redemption and reconciliation to all who believe in Him.
We hold fast to the blessed hope of the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ. This event will usher in the final judgment and the fulfillment of God’s kingdom. We believe His return will be visible, triumphant, and will establish a new heaven and a new earth where righteousness dwells and God reigns forever.
We teach that grace is the unmerited favor of God, freely given to all who believe in Jesus Christ. It is through grace that we are saved, not by our works, so that no one can boast. This divine grace empowers believers to live righteous and godly lives, reflecting the character of Christ.
We believe that salvation is a gift from God, accessible to all through faith in Jesus Christ. It involves repentance of sin, acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior, and a personal commitment to follow Him in obedience. Salvation is not just a one-time event but a lifelong journey of being transformed into the likeness of Christ.
We uphold baptism as an essential step of obedience for every believer, symbolizing the believer's death to sin and resurrection to a new life in Christ. It is an outward expression of an inward faith, a public declaration of one's commitment to Christ and His Church. Baptism is a sacrament that signifies our identification with the body of Christ and is typically performed by immersion as a representation of being buried and raised with Christ.
